Seether,
Ra, Social Burn and Noise Therapy Rock Syracuse
by Rebecca Clark
The
night was cold and fridged when Krock presented Seether, RA, Social Burn and
Noise Therapy at The Bridge Street Music Hall in Syracuse, NY on Feb. 11.
Starting off the show was Noise
Therapy; they were a pleasant last-minute surprise to be added to the band
lineup. Their set was nothing but full on energy, immediately getting the crowd
going and into the music. People in the crowd were jumping up and down with
their music and just went crazy. They played a short set of about 6 or 7 songs
including “Get-Up,” “G-Hole,” “Star 69,” and “Yesterday.”
Over all the set was amazing and everyone in the venue seemed to be impressed with Noise Therapy. Rob (bass player) said that they were still playing in their heavy mode because they just got done touring with bands such as OTEP and Flaw. Noise Therapy defiantly left an impression on Syracuse and made some new fans in the process.
Social Burn was up next. They hype
from Krock was strong for this band to be playing, but their mistake was
following Noise Therapy on the line up. Social Burn played really well and
sounded really
tight, but their stage presence was just not as energetic and exciting as Noise
Therapy.
Next up was Ra. The audience went
crazy as they started their set. Ra has a heavy rock sound mixed with heavy bass
beats. Ra sounded tight and knew how to satisfy the crowd getting them pumped
for Seether.
Playing their single “Do You Call My Name,” everyone sang along and moved with the beat of the song. Ending with “Scorn,” singer Sahaj gave advice to the crowd. Saying that if a guy will not leave a girl alone, when she wants to be left alone, then do something about it. Encouraging guys help her out and make them leave her alone.
Finally what everyone was waiting for...Seether to hit the stage. Lead
singer Shaun nonchalantly walked on stage with a cigarette in his mouth, took a
few hits and passed it on to an audience member. Ripping into “Gasoline,”
Seether immediately rocked the venue and fans screamed while jumping up and
down with excitement.
Playing songs off of their debut album “Disclaimer,” such as “Fade Away,” “69 Tea,” Pig,” “Fuck It,” and “Fine Again.” Shaun dedicated “Fine Again” to the memory of the late Drowning Pool singer. They also played a new song called “Burrito” and “Hang on” off of the Dare Devil soundtrack. After an hour long set Seether came back out on stage for an encore of “Broken.” Bass player Dale sat on a stool playing an acoustic guitar while Shaun joined by Sahaj of Ra. It was a very emotional ending to an energetic ass kicking rock show.
