Mudvayne Sell Out Northern Lights
by Rebecca Clark
Mudvayne
exploded into Clifton Park on October 25 starting their tour the right way,
having a sold out show with ticket-less spectators trying to get a listen from
outside the venue.
The
venue was packed and as soon as I walked in, the heat hit me and the cloud of smoke and
steamy air literally took my breath away. I was running late and missed Shadows
Fall and Depswa. Mushroomhead hit the stage as I walked in the door. Their sound
reminded me of Mudvayne and I did a double take looking at the stage to see who
was actually playing.
Mushroomhead looked crammed up on
the stage. The big band has eight band members rocking out all at once, it is a
pretty cool thing to see. The crowd went crazy and began to mosh-pit. MxH’s
sound is filled with heavy metal guitar riffs and was a perfect choice to open
up for Mudvayne.
After a long set change fans of all
ages, even little kids with parents, began packing themselves closer to the
stage awaiting Mudvayane’s debut. Suddenly Mudvayne hit the stage with a
vengeance busting out their new look and getting everyone in the venue off their
feet and into the beat of their music. Bass thumping and drums pounding, their
energy on stage was amazing. Mosh-pitting began. Their sound was tight and heavy
as ever, sounding better than on their CD.
Playing songs from their
forth-coming album and debut album , the set had a good mixture of songs, which
satisfied new
and old fans. Front man Chud (Chad) interacted with the audience getting them
pumped up for the release of their new album.
Overall finally seeing Mudvayne
live was well worth the 2 hour drive. Their sound may be more melodic this time
around but they know how to rock out a sold out club and treat their fans to an
appetizing metal music feast.
