Daughtry

Chris Daughtry has had a buzz of interest after being on the hit show American Idol. Joining forces with his official band, Daughtry’s first official tour kicked off amazingly well in Southern California and then filling up the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.
With all the screaming teenage girls in the audience you might think you were at a NSYNC concert not a rock show! Usually a mainstream rock show isn’t for me, but there is something about Chris Daughtry and his band that perks my interest. Chris has an energy and special talent that immediately draws you into his music. It was amusing seeing the girls scream when they touched Chris’ hand as he walked by, but at the same time it was good seeing young kids, especially teen girls be excited to see a ROCK band perform.
Chris and his band sounded amazing. From up front where I was, they were loud and rocking it. It is evident that Chris takes his performance very seriously by his body language on stage. His intense facial expressions and eyes told you he was wrapped up into every song hitting every note perfectly. Other critics might say Chris wasn’t having a great time up on stage, but if you look harder you will see otherwise. This is their first major tour and even though they may be “green” on stage, their performance was flawless. With time I for see all of them coming out of their shells and letting loose more on stage.
Daughtry performed mostly songs of their self-titled debut album with a few surprises here and there. One was giving the crowd a sneak peak of some new material Daughtry wrote with Rob Thomas. The crowd screamed with approval when Chris asked everyone if they enjoyed it. One more surprise was their cover of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday.”
Be sure and check out Daughtry when they hit a town near you. This band should not be missed. For being such a new band they have a lot to offer and you are guaranteed a good show! For more information on tour dates and info on the band visit their official Web site: http://www.daughtryofficial.com
