Delaware’s own Boy Sets Fire, have released a new five song EP titled “Live For Today.” It is a hard-hitting album that instantly grabs your attention with their opening song “Release the Dogs.” It is a hard-core song capturing the intense energy and passionate feelings of the tragedy and horrible events that happened one year ago on September 11. Being hard-core and with controversial lyrics, “Release the Dogs” probably will not be aired on the radio, but Boy Sets Fire have no worries because they are “never afraid of making a statement” which is a trait that will defiantly turn some heads, getting them the attention they deserve.

“Bathory’s Sainthood” is song number two on the EP. Toning it down a bit with a more melodic approach, with clean vocals and guitar rhythms to transform your frame of mind from a mosh pitting frenzy to a more mellow and reflective mood.

Three live songs were included on their EP, which were recorded on July 19 2002 at Club Krome, South Amboy, New Jersey. Including  “Handful of Redemption,” which is to be featured on their new album. “Handful of Redemption” is radio friendly and has a beat that is pleasing and enjoyable for any average modern rocker. The lyrical content of “Handful of Redemption” contains their reflective scheme like in “Bathony’s Sainthood.” Closing their EP with the solid sound of “Rookie,” mixed with hardcore and clean vocals and guitar riffs to make you head bang until your head falls off!

All in all Boy Sets Fire is an awe-inspiring band that will turn a lot of heads. Having a diverse sound between hardcore and metal with a splash of modern rock, this band will satisfy any hungry metal listener. “Live For The Day” is just a big tease for the whole album, leaving them craving for more.
